Privacy policy

Updated 12 October 2026. This is a translation; the Lithuanian version prevails.

This privacy policy applies to hakatonas.lt. Other websites and services of the Saulėtekis Valley Science and Technology Park (VšĮ Saulėtekio slėnio mokslo ir technologijų parkas) are covered by the institution’s general privacy policy.

Who processes your data

The data controller is VšĮ Saulėtekio slėnio mokslo ir technologijų parkas, company code 126224832, Saulėtekio al. 15, Vilnius, Lithuania. Questions about data: info@ssmtp.lt.

What we collect

You can browse the site anonymously – there are no registrations, user accounts or comments for visitors. We only receive personal data in two cases.

1. The “Post a hackathon” form:

  • your name or organisation and email address – used only to review the submitted hackathon and contact you if needed. They are not published on the site;
  • the hackathon details (name, dates, venue, link, description, picture) – published on the platform after review.

We process this data at your request in order to publish the hackathon (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping an accurate list of hackathons (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Contact details are kept while the hackathon is listed and for no longer than 2 years after it ends, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

2. Hackathon alerts: if you subscribe, we store your email address, your chosen frequency (every new hackathon or once a month), language and the date you subscribed. The subscription only becomes active once you click the confirmation link in our email. We use your address only to send emails about hackathons. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Every email contains an unsubscribe link – clicking it deletes your address. Unconfirmed subscriptions are deleted after 7 days.

Cookies

The site sets no cookies for visitors. Cookies are set only by WordPress, and only for site administrators when they log in to the dashboard. The language choice (LT/EN) is carried in the link, not in a cookie. There are no tracking or advertising cookies, so there is no consent banner.

Visitor statistics

We do not use any visitor statistics or analytics tools.

Who we share data with

  • The site’s hosting provider – servers, database, email delivery and access logs.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. – if Cloudflare Turnstile protection is enabled, it checks on the “Post a hackathon” form, using browser data and your IP address, that the form is not being filled in by a bot. Turnstile does not use cookies or collect data for advertising.

Fonts are served from the site itself – no third-party font servers are used. Hackathon registration links lead to the organisers’ websites, where their own privacy policies apply.

Where data is transferred outside the European Union, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses apply.

Server logs

Access logs containing IP addresses are kept for the periods set by the hosting provider and are used only to keep the site secure and working.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to withdraw consent and to data portability (GDPR Articles 15–21). Contact info@ssmtp.lt. If you believe your rights have been infringed, you can lodge a complaint with the State Data Protection Inspectorate (vdai.lrv.lt).

If the site’s features change – for example new forms or analytics – this policy will be updated.
